One. Year. Later.
A year ago—well, almost—I walked away from this pen name. Not because I didn't love writing. Because I forgot how to write romance. See, I was going through some shit and I forgot how to write about love. How could I write about it if I didn't feel it?
I intended to retire Elle completely. Walk away.
Hell, I closed out my newsletter accounts, condensed my lists, and because I love writing, I kept writing. Just not romance.
Problem is… this is where I do well. Sure, I might not be in the top 100—hell, not even the top 500 or 1000. But what I do? I do okay for myself.
I've spent six years publishing, not just under Elle but several other names. To be honest, it wasn't because I didn't want to stick with one thing, one lane. It was because I wanted to dip my toes in everything.
But a wise man once told me I dabble too much and don't go all in on one thing. That saying has stuck with me for a long time.
Because it's right.
So here I am. Coming back to what works for me. Not because I feel shame, but because I know what I'm good at and where I can bring stories to you.

I am maybe halfway through my reread of Ashes to Ashes.
Listen, I'm slow. As in, I work slow. I prefer to exist in a deliberate flow. When I rush, I fuck shit up. Say things twice. Repeat shit.
I blame the ADHD.
So it feels like it's taking me 57 years to work through this when my ADHD brain is screaming at me to get to writing Dust to Dust.
Like, bitch, chill. I'll get to it.
I've been building the opening scene in my head for a year and it needs to get the fuck out of my damn head.
But I'll get to it. One day at a time, with my cat by my side.
